The tomb of Tomás Guido, 1866

Buenos Aires, Argenitina

Tomás Guido was one of the closest friends and supporters of the General San Martin. During his military and political carrier he served in the rank of Brigadier General as a Chief of Army and a Minister of the Government. The grotto-like tomb was meant to be a symbol of humility, it was build by hand by his son - Carlos Guido Spano to pay a tribute to his father. Now, after the remains of General Tomás Guido were moved to the Mausoleum of Heroes in the Buenos Aires’ Cathedral to rest at the side of General San Martin, the Recoleta grotto holds the body of the son - Carlos Guido Spano.
