I suppose that I had better start at the beginning, and with an explanation for my tardiness (this is yesterday's image afterall). If you read yesterday's excuse, then simply add 'busy jetsetting' to it, and you have today's. Since this is Sunday's image, though, I am only going to talk about Sunday, and leave Monday for another day - maybe even Tuesday. So. To Sunday. Despite Saturday night being a night of festivities with very loud music - of the live kind coming from the stage across the road; and of the recorded type coming from the fairground rides and dodgems just across the road as well - I did manage to sleep fairly well. Perhaps all that pimba music is designed to make you sleep (if only to escape it). Well, Sunday morning arrived, and brought with it the 'better' weather. We knew from the off that, just like Saturday, Friday, Thursday... etc., it was going to be a day for the beach. But first... the Mercado Santa Ana was beckoning, as was a trip to Caldas to take Helena to church, and Pedro, Lucas and myself to the padaria for some breakfast. A quick call to Sílvia, and the tentative arrangements to meet up were solidified (sort of); however, Sílvia still had not eaten, so we had about 40 minutes to visit the lagoon at Obidos, where this image was taken. Stunningly beautiful is the only way I can describe it. Photo opportunities taken, it was time to be on the road again. By now it was past 11am, and Lucas had fallen asleep in the car - which meant that Pedro wouldn't be able to leave the car. We decided that it was not worth our while going to the market, especially with Lucas asleep, because by the time we had found a parking space it would be time to pick up Helena. I phoned Sílvia to let her know that we had changed our plans, and that instead we were heading back to Caldas for a stroll around the park and a bottle of water. We picked Helena up, then went off to a restaurant for our lunch, following which we decided that Foz do Arelho was too busy for us, so we opted for São Martinho instead, where we sat on the beach and bumped into Pedro's friend, José (who came with us to Batalha back in November). Some of the braver amongst us even went into the ice-cold Atlantic water and got our backs wet (I am, of course, talking about Lucas). For reasons of security, I didn't venture any deeper than my waist - I was afraid that if I let my not insubstantial belly enter the water I might flood the town - and I couldn't do that, especially not with the fair in town. The day was finished off very nicely when Pedro, Helena and Lucas drove me to Santa Catarina where I had supper and a chat with Sílvia and her family before we all made our way back to Lisbon in time for Alex and his brother to go to the pictures to see Star Wars, and for Sílvia to take me back to Alcântara, where I footered about on the computer for a short time and chatted to Charles before setting every alarm clock I could lay my hand on, just to be sure that I made it to the airport in time to come home. A nice visit to Portugal, where I met some old friends and made new ones. I had a couple of days at the beach, visited places I had never been to before (and some that I have been to several times), had a few good meals, watched a couple of football games and got a bit of a tan. I even managed to get some work done as well.

Last year I was also thinking about boats and beaches
