Photo pre-dates 1901 as the Kings Arms on the left was rebuilt then by style & winch brewers, this is the only known photo of the original Kings Arms originally named the George where Hogarth dined in 1732....(no it wasn't at the prince of waterloo as some have claimed)

I used to go to the paper shop in the 1950's, its where I got all my Match Box vehicles from. The photograph shows what looks like a wooden shed to the left of the shop. This was gone in the 1950's leaving just a cement base. It was there that my Dad and I looked out over the flooded island in 1953.

And a Scottish couple, Mr and Mrs Robertson, had it before Mrs Felton. They employed a young girl as their shop assistant, and if you asked for a quarter of a pound of Quality Street, she was a lot tight with the chocolate ones, but, very generous with the toffees!
