Hi Julia, thanks for the comment. I went to school at Alexandra Road infants!

This was where my family took me as well when I was younger. Some of my family lived in London and came to visit in the summers. We lived in Jefferson Road. My grandma would often take me to the beach here. They used to tie a washing line round my waist and tie the other end to the deck chair to stop me walking out into the sea and submerging. Teas on the beach - tea always tasted better out of a flask in the open air. Looking for oil spots on the beack before sitting down. Fantastic memories.

As a child in the time Graham Bentley was an attendant this was our beach we called it "ours" because it was located at the top of our road. We lived in Alexandra Road and myself and my two sisters our parents and other families whom were our neighbours spent alot of a time here. Happy memories playing swimming and climbing on the floating deck which we used to swim out to.

These photos just show that this used to be a really vibrant town once upon a time. Even when I was a deck chair attendant (64 and 65) the beaches were full on a good day. I would like to see the front on a fine summer's day nowadays to compare. After visiting this site I do plan to come back in the summer and check it out.
