This picture is the first I have seen that's confirms my belief that there was a structure over the castle well. It has been bugging me for years as in the 50's I remembered a pair of large green doors but did not know what the structure was. Thanks

As to the line to the pier- the only bit that that you may see is at the bottom of the Whiteway about 100 yards before the first bend the line crossed the road. looking to the right hand side from recall it went straight for a while then gradually curved to the right and joined the main line. I can't recall exactly but I feel sure it was well down the line to Sheerness. The line would now be in Abbots and was about 50 yards from the Pier cottages that have now gone.

I think the loco on the left may possibly be a rebuilt "Reindeer" class 2-4-0, dating originally from 1865. 504 and 506 of this class were stationed at Sheerness Dockyard shed in the early 1900s to work local trains, until they were withdrawn in December 1905. The water tank on the castle mound behind the station was filled from the original castle mill by a steam pump. It supplied water to the station for the locomotives, and I believe also supplied part of the town at one time.

I think you are right. There was also a spur off to a dock or pier from Queenborough in the early days. I wonder if any trace of that survives.

Superb photograph of an uncharacteristically busy time at Queenborough, thankyou ! Do you know the rough date, by any chance ?
I hope I'm right in remembering that the carriage whose corner is just visible in the lower right is on the Leysdown branch platform (Sheppey Light Railway). Corrections welcome, of course.
