Scaly Breasted Lorikeet!

This one is different! It has been bred in captivity, and is a much darker olive green than wild scaly breasteds ....... it can't fly even though its wings have not been clipped, but it seems happy enough. I am in two minds ..... first, I hate its loss of freedom, then I think about the dogs and cats and other introduced aggressive birds that are giving the natives a hard time .... !! It also gets a constant supply of food without effort, and seems to be bonded to people, and is completely unafraid!!

Love the way you have used space to perch this gloriously yellow and tawny bird. V

Its a lovely shot Lou... I often think about their lack of freedom too, but a bird
bred in captivity wouldn't stand a chance in the wild. v

Excellent capture and well documented background, Lou. Nice to see that it is well cared for, in captivity and not having to worry about constant aggressors, found in the wild.
