The new mess hall is on the right and will sit a couple hundred scouts. The old mess hall, the one I knew so well in the late 1960s and early 1970s is on the left. It soon will be gone to make room for the elephant on the right. Sometimes, change is not good, if history and tradition are lost in the process. The old mess on the left will be gone in 2007, and I was fortunate to have been able to have stood inside it on this trip. I could smell the food, and hear the old songs again..
