Jackson Butte, Part 1: Amasa Back Trail

This gallery covers my hike from Kane Creek Road to Jackson Hole (near Moab, Utah) via
the Amasa Back Trail, which is a rough “road” used by mountain bikers, motorcyclists,
and four-wheel-drive freaks. The point of the hike was to explore Jackson Butte, a
mesa in Jackson Hole. The parent gallery explains my interest in the butte.

The sandstone landscape of the area is mind-boggling, though walking on the road
is a bit boring at times. There I saw numerous mountain bikes, three or four
motorcyclists, a few Jeeps, and a couple of all-terrain vehicles. I got an early
start, hence the deep shadows at the start. Photos appear in chronological order.

Nice documentation of a beautiful and brutal area. The shots of The Ladder bring back memories of climbing it with my bike., it was a great ride, especially when it was done.
