Arch Circumnavigation, Part 7: Basin of Delicate Arch
For lovers of landforms, a visit to Delicate Arch is incomplete without a side trip to
the basin below the arch. Some brave souls have descended the steep sandstone from the
arch directly to the basin. For me the gradient was too steep, so I did the only other
thing: walked back down the trail to a certain spot, then turned off the trail and went
cross-country to the basin, staying off any cryptobiotic soil.
Photos were taken in April 2006; there are more basin photos in another gallery.
