Freeze-dried dinner eaten eight years after purchase---and I'm still alive

Floating Island causeway, Utah

I bought this meal at the REI store in Federal Way (between Seattle and Tacoma) in 1999. I ate its contents eight years later. Discarding the meal because of the passage of time was unthinkable.

I read about an explorer who found a wooly mammoth in the ice, estimated age 30,000 years. He cut a steak from it, cooked it, ate it, and is still exploring years later.
So much for eat by dates. Just there to make money for food producers. Lots of money.

I think you might need to look at the image you posted about the company that was having a forward movement in its food, and consider how far you are from a restroom in case of a forward movement of this food.
