Strange sighting at Arches National Park

The Park Service shows orientation films in the auditorium of the visitors' center.
While waiting for the movie to start, I looked up and saw this pattern.

This looks like a phenomenon called the "Phillips Effect." I've seen it a few times, but it was spinning.

Dave, I have seen similar patterns elsewhere: http://www.pbase.com/steveyaphotos/image/72761696 I'll let others decide if the fact that you and I are seeing similar light patterns is a good thing, or not.
