Quicksand

Near Delicate Arch Viewpoint (Arches National Park)

There I was, cheerfully walking up a streambed, minding my own business and encountering
nothing but firm ground. Suddenly my feet sank into the sand. Recent rains had moistened
the streambed, creating a soupy consistency just below the surface. In a flash I pictured
myself slowing sinking into the unforgiving muck, disappearing from sight. I was able
to hop out of the stuff before I was caught forever in its deadly grasp.

Dave...Happy Greetings From Northern California - U.S.A. This Photo Gallery, Physics: Fluid Dynamics, is 'off-the page...' There are simply too many favorities; however, I have chosen QUICKSAND for personal reasons. Since childhood, there has been a fear of 'quicksand' b/c of its deadly power. However, the photo is awesome and has somewhat of an abstract influence. I am an a painter. Tour my Abstract Art Gallery & post your comments: www.pbase.com/lille_mcghee

No, that would be the Joyce that rhymes with Ulysses.

I have a sinking feeling when I look at this photo. This reminds me of one of the old "Ramar of the Jungle" quicksand scenes, without the hokey Hollywood jungle set. By the way, is Joyce something that rhymes with "looker"?

Not as good as Angela of Ham House.

Who is Joyce. Is she a looker?
Guest 27-Feb-2007 03:20
muck also rhymes with the word i say when i step in it.....
John Cooper26-Feb-2007 23:16
Extremely subtle John, or have I been reading to much Joyce.

Muck is a cool word because it sounds like what it is describing. It is the sound that your boot makes when you pull it out.

Is this the situation that spelled the end for your trail shoes?

I once asked the "Samaritans" how I could help save peoples lives.
They said stop writing long descriptions under each of your photos.
Then they threw me out.

Guest 25-Feb-2007 11:03
Wasn't there a band in the '80s called the" Unforgiving Muck"?
