Basin Boy seeks enlightenment near Delicate Arch

Arches National Park (Moab, Utah) view map

This picture shows me in deep contact with a vast expanse of sandstone in an attempt to reach Enlightenment. (Details about this practice are available at the gallery level.) Park rules do not prohibited this practice.

Delicate Arch, the shadow-casting "upside-down U" in the background, is a pseudo-religious shrine for photographers but for me it is merely one feature in a mind-boggling landscape of canyons, fins, blobs, amphitheaters, etc. This landscape reminds me how insignificant I am in the scheme of things in the universe.

My sober assistant, Joe Tripod, claims that while he held my camera still for this photo, I was babbling incoherently.

Nice study in diagonals, Dave. My fear would be relaxing too much and finding myself sliding down the slope when it's too late to stop.

Is this one of those new age techniques? Lol! Beautiful color and lovely composition. Voted.

Dave, do you think that talking to your tripod may be a sign that you've gone too long without human contact? Just wondering...

Dave, this, for me is a dizzying photo. Looking at that "swirl" to the right and slightly up from your meditating feet makes it appear that you are on some intergalactic amusement ride. It makes me dizzy. Even more than usual.

Do not trust Joe, anybody who goes to "Metal Heaven" after life is not on the "Go list".
