During my exploration of Negro Bill Canyon I discovered a side trail leading out of the main canyon.
That trail---as much an animal path as anything else---led up to this plateau of sandstone fins
interspersed with soil, most of which was cryptobiotic. It was a bizarre but eerily beautiful
landscape. I saw what I could in an hour and returned to the trailhead, vowing to come here again.
The patch of dirt in the foregound is about three feet (1m) wide.
