I have it on good authority that lies furthering the amusement of surfers are not only forgivable, but also commendable. With that in mind, I bask in the satisfaction of admitting another deception among my images: in this shot I am walking in the wrong direction! My trek to the precipice of Salt Wash (in Arches National Park) required that I walk toward the background, not toward the camera. Yet I faked it so that I could take advantage of the better background seen here. I have no shame.
One of the things I love about the topography around Moab is the opportunity to walk on large expanses of bare rock, as I am doing here. Somehow it is more fun that walking on dirt, maybe because of its novelty. That is no lie.
Joe Tripod contributed to the production of this image, for which I am grateful. His attitude toward lying is that it is an ineffectual way to support my camera. That's why he prefers standing.
