This shy bird, captured at Iwahig (Palawan) in sweet late afternoon light, is not easy to get close to. The low angle melted the foreground and bagcground, isolating the subject.

The Kennedy Guide says this bird is very difficult to differentiate from the Swinhoe's Snipe in the field. I based my provisional ID on this bird's behavior ( as described in the KG) when captured - "feeds by picking and probing in mud for food."
