This capture of a rare Philippine endemic, a specie I've been chasing for a couple of years, barges into my Top endemics gallery with an exclamation point. The contrasting white forehead and the black body present an exposure nightmare, plus I've to stack two 1.4x TCs to make the bird bigger in the frame. I would have been happy to get a record shot of this 207th lifebird (56th endemic lifer), but I got lucky to nail it with a clean background, good pose and decent detail even with an effectively 2x TC and ISO 800.
