I thought Balicassiaos are just common, noisy, plain black and uninteresting until this picture. It is a beautiful Philippine bird. Thanks for changing my impression. I will always have this one in mind. Bravo for this one!

If one can create the worst exposure nightmare imaginable, this should be it - a black bird that inhabits the dimly-lit undercanopy. I've tried flash on this specie before but I always get the "steel-eye" and the unpleasant flashed look. This capture was my first decent photo of this common but tough to shoot endemic.
