Believe it or not, the weather is lovely here – believe it or not both because the photo suggests it might be otherwise and because quite frankly it’s hard to remember other nice days this summer.
So, we poked our heads round our neighbour’s door and suggested a carrot and stick evening – the stick being a three-mile walk over and around the hill but the carrot of a pint of Doom Bar to reward us for the first half of the walk and fortify us for the return leg was well worth the stick.
When you get to the top (which really is the top but we’re not thanking the lord because the lord doesn’t exist – family joke, I’ll explain it another day) you get a 360☼ - please note, that isn’t the symbol I was expecting, I wanted a º but I typed it in wrong and got the other instead – I have no idea if I’d ever be able to find it again but thought it worked well with what I was trying to say, in other words circular view and sunshine.
You can see the sea from Torpoint to St Austell, Dartmoor, the Tamar Valley, Bodmin Moor and the china clay workings all from this vantage point.
We sat in the pub, gossiped and had a thoroughly wicked time before wandering back along the railway line home. I reckon it’s the sheep – they’re the cause of it all. They got their bikinis out weeks ago and more-or-less ever since it’s been raining……..
Last year, I was cooking 'whore's spaghetti'!
