This shot is an accident, to be completely honest, however sweetly it’s turned out!
I was fiddling about with depth of field, this was lit for f32 and I shot it at f8 without changing the lighting. For whatever reason, I rarely do high key shots – I can think of only one other out and out high key shot in all of the 1600 or so days I’ve been doing my pad.
Anyway, it’s that Oxfam sugar bowl again – did you spot it the other day, upturned being used as a stand for my crystal ball?
I have shot this spoon (or one very much like it) once before with sugar being tipped from it. I had a thing for quite a while about capturing moving things – I’m not sure if I’ve ‘grown out of it’ or if I’ve just not had any inspiration in that department for a while.
On that occasion I was feeling VERY pissed off with someone who wanted to use me to extract money from David – NOT a very nice thing to do. Despite that, pbase had landed me with something very nice on that occasion to sweeten the pill.
Today, I’m in a better mood, despite having a new and not-quite-unexpected-but-nearly-so turn of events in the grand plan. Weirdly, in one of those marvellous quirks of fate that you can’t legislate for, the news may not turn out as badly as we’d thought it might, had we heard it three weeks ago. One of my chance train conversations could well sweeten the pill of the news!
So, as soon as we received one call, we made another and we may ‘live to fight another day’ as they say…..
Last year was the start of the renovations - the bathroom was being ripped out. The bloody room still isn't finished - I swear I'll go bonkers if we don't get round to finishing some of these projects soon.
