I’m putting up a shot that’s not really all that closely related to what I’ve been up to today although there is a link, however tenuous.
We’ve been working in the garden again, although it seems that for a few days at least, the weather has reverted to a more spring-like climate. (In other words colder and greyer!) I’ve had a really major day today, planting around half of the chillis and sweet peppers into the beds in the greenhouse, from the pots in which they germinated. I was already feeling pretty chuffed about that when DM decided to set up the automatic irrigation system in there so I don’t have to water it – cool!
While he was doing that, I was doing second sowings of onions, rocket, carrots and beetroot. I am still completely overwhelmed by how far ahead of ourselves we are – all we need to do now is keep an eye open for late frosts and we should have a substantial head start on last year.
All this has been done alongside making home made soup and bread for lunch, two other loaves of bread, a trip to Trago to stock up on dog food and get compost (I reckon I’m their best compost customer this year) and a few other bits and bobs.
All-in-all though the work has been un-photogenic and although I had good intentions of an hour in the studio, it got to 6.30pm and I’d done no photography at all so this shot is sort of cobbled together to give me something to post. It works for me though DM said ‘I’ve seen you do much better’…..
It’s apple blossom, one of my favourite indicators of spring and given that we’re half-way through spring now and the garden is really coming on a pace, I can honestly say it’s the apple of my eye. Yep – that’s just about the corniest gag I’ve ever done here!
Last year, we were doing something that I regard as something to cherish - entertaining friends - feeding them and enjoying their company.
