…..somewhere (maybe) near you…..
I was ‘fresh out’ of ideas tonight, having discovered I’d forgotten to change my camera from ‘raw’ to ‘jpeg’ setting and with no raw converter on my laptop. So, determined to get a shot, I improvised!
Imagine the scene, me dodging other hotel guests while I balanced my camera on my room key to give it some lift and get this shot – the things we do!
I am on a trip and in an hotel, possibly somewhere near you! (That is if you are anywhere near Heathrow Airport tonight.)
There are obvious deficiencies with this, including the sensor dust which I’ve not removed deliberately because I think (possibly falsely) it adds to the depressing grittiness of the image.
Of course it is yours truly, blurry (as is right for the image) walking along a faceless hotel corridor. I decided to give it a try because I saw a ‘pristine’ hotel corridor shot somewhere recently and this idea sprang to mind.
My head can’t quite get around why the emergency exit sign is clear through my chest because I’d have thought my body was blocking it but nevertheless it’s there. I kind of like the fact that it says if you want to run away, run into my heart. That’s sort of how I feel, with one of those ‘trips’ that I hate so much looming ahead of me.
I know I’ll probably enjoy it when I get to my destination but I loathe the thought of going and leaving behind my precious England, even more my precious Cornwall and all of the treasure it contains, which today has been bathed in glorious, beautiful sunshine, especially when the weather forecast at my destination is way colder than the balmy 18 deg C (sorry this keyboard won’t play ball with the degree sign) and RAINING!
DM saved my bacon by volunteering to drive me to ‘England’, over the border from Cornwall and unwittingly saved me from missing my train, which had I caught a train to join it from my local station would have meant I missed it because the connection was late……he is reading this as you do because I forgot to mention his status as ‘knight in shining armour’ when we spoke earlier. Thanks DM……
Anyway, here I am, about to board a plane to the Med…….I hope I get there safe and sound.
