They say there is no peace for the wicked and I feel certain that I must be the most wicked person on the planet based on the amount of peace I get. I face into the remainder of the week, knowing it will be relentlessly challenging, with absolutely no remorse or respite from the world in which I operate.
Things have been going wrong again – something promised for yesterday, failed to occur due to a quirk of fate that was beyond my control, or indeed anyone else’s control. So, if I am now to deliver on my part of the bargain, I must drive myself into the ground to achieve it. If I fail to do this, the repercussions for me are too ghastly to contemplate. The buck stops here as they say.
However, despite all the chaos, I can report that some good has come into my world – a delivery of fence stuff and a promise of fence erection on Saturday. Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah! I am optimistically hoping that the investment in and delivery of said equipment means that we are unlikely to be let down (again) at this juncture.
So, we are moving towards apogee on this project at least. I have hurriedly trotted out this quick diary entry in my lunchbreak (and posting it in a quiet moment this evening), having taken the photo first thing this morning before starting work – in case anyone wonders about my starting time, the clock on my camera is wrong, it’s still set to BST.
I am (in the manner of someone clutching at straws) thinking that the sooner the Chinese New Year kicks in and we all start to benefit from good fortune and prosperity the better. If not, I’m going to ask the fencing man to build his fence around me…….
Last year, we were at Moorswater viaduct - a most impressive bit of engineering!
