21st February 2007 - broken

They say you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Unfortunately I can’t claim anything so noble as an omelette made here – it’s just a pile of our hens’ newly-laid, fresh, free-range, organic eggs that I managed to smash. What’s worst is that these are the first few this year – we’ve only eaten two of their eggs since they started to lay a couple of weeks ago and I manage to smash five in one go, when our dinner was half-cooked already so I couldn’t even use them in tonight’s meal.

I am a clumsy oaf who can’t be trusted.

Last year - my Dad came to the rescue!

BTW - done this shot before - though hopefully this time a bit better - if not I really HAVE been wasting my energy for the last four years.

Sounds like those are valuable eggs to be wasting!

so fresh there's even a feather in there. Great shot.

You may have broken the eggs but it has made a great picture. At least the hens have started laying again.

May be the birds like broken eggs so what 's in an egg, a beautiful image.

...you made me to pick up my but and head to the kitchen (at 10:09 pm)to make an omlet...that's how good this picture looks

Perhaps they need some grit in the mash.(serious). The shell may be too thin.

The minute I saw the thumb I thought about breaking eggs for an omelette. Hopefully more eggs will be coming soon and you will get to eat some.--Rene

I feel your pain. I once fell while carrying a bag of eggs, broke every single one of the dozen I had. Yea. No fun.

Love the shot, great lighting and detail.
