I do love to hear the blues played on a harmonica – the feel of the instrument adds an extra layer of melancholy that somehow seems to flow a bit deeper than a guitar…..though of course I’m sure many will disagree.
Iain has been a harmonica player for many years and used to pitch up and play in bars in Hong Kong years ago. I’ll bet that was a cool sight.
Anyway, when I saw his harmonica mike yesterday, I hit on the idea of an action shot with him playing a harmonica into the mike. The shot wasn’t to be though because in order to hold the mike and play, Iain’s hands were covering both harmonica and mike!
So he dropped the mike and played. I got my zoom lens in close and this is the result. I’m really pleased with it and so, I think, is he.
I have a sneaky feeling that Iain doesn’t often get photographed - he has two very cute sons who must get lots of photographic attention and not just from us, along with a stunning wife so all-in-all I doubt he’s got many ‘proper’ pics of himself. He’s probably got a shoebox full of holiday snaps and the rest of the time I suspect he’s the one behind the camera not in front of it!
He is a keen photographer himself, certainly – their home has many of his excellent photos framed and hanging on the walls. Not to mention the fact that he became the proud owner of a well-loved G3, complete with ‘love-marks’ a few weeks ago – yep, I sold my little G3 and he’s now having great fun with it. I’m glad to see it being used regularly again because I’d barely touched it in recent times.
Keep blowin’ those blues harmonica man!
