13th March 2006 - taste the heat

Hot stuff. Taste it. Want it. Bite it.

Take your pleasure in taste. Do you remember the first time you tasted beer? Yuck. It was horrible wasn’t it? It’s something acquired, just like avocado, olives, chilli and wine. It’s something that if you taste once, you either keep on going until you adore the hoppy, slightly acidic tang or you never go back to.

Taste the sweet flavour of chocolate, coating the inside of your mouth like a bittersweet blanket of thorny comfort.

Savour the sweet and sour of rhubarb and custard, the rhubarb’s acid slicing down the sides of your tongue while custard’s warm sweet pleasure cancels out the sharpness. Taste ice-cream’s cold, numbing thrill on a hot day. Sip a cup of tea, vitalising your other senses and quenching your thirst.

Gain solace in the fact that medicine does you good while its rank, syrupy mass seems never to leave your mouth. Allow your senses to mingle as the champagne bubbles pop on your tongue and you experience the sour flavour while your mouth is being vitalised.

Swig cold Cobra to quench the fire of a HOT curry even though it never works…..it just fans the flame. Feel your taste buds revel in the little capsules of lime juice crushed in the neck of the bottle.

Tastes change, tastes develop, remember sherbet fountains and flying saucers? Tastes we left behind years ago for more sophisticated flavours and sensations.

Enjoy flavour – as with all the senses it dulls over time and what once thrilled becomes too rich, too spicy or too sweet. Make the most of what you have. Taste everything now. Try it all. Keep trying it and keep experiencing the new.

Love the taste of love. Kissed mouths and skin. Taste the salt of sweat or tears. Try the taste of love today. Try the flavour of lust today. Taste life today.

Last year, I was tasting life as me and me only - not me as a representative of a company, just me.

LOL! I agree with Cheryl, I think it's getting hot in here!

In one of todays (Tuesdays) tabloids, it mentioned that dark chocolate reduced the threat of heart attack. Unfortunately it didn't mention the quantity! The best food scare-mongery story I've heard for a while... What next will they come up with.
PS. What organic chilli did you use (if not - I don't want to know!). SYS Erica
