14th October 2005 - oranges are not the only fruit

No, I’m not ‘coming out’ I’m using the same analogy for the fact that we’ve shunned the ‘orange’of life in the South East, which is the almost universally accepted life, in favour of the ‘lemon’ by moving to Cornwall, a remote and wild place with poor employment opportunities (on the whole) – a plan that all our friends think is completely mad/insane/bonkers, whatever their own version of the deranged is.

Despite the ‘grand plan’ we still have lots of ties in the South East, not least my work but also both our families remain firmly entrenched in the London area. So tonight we’re back in ‘London’ at DMs folks, with our lovely dogs and enjoying having someone else look after us for a change.

I’m so tired and I must say, I wasn’t looking forward to trekking back up the motorway one little bit, even for the prize of being wrapped up in cotton wool for a couple of nights and a trip to the Lilywhites tomorrow.

We were treated to a lovely evening including superb food and some splendid Rioja – Rosie and Archie too seemed to enjoy themselves – Arch parked himself in a spot where he could do his usual ‘looking after’ us and Rosie trotted back and forth watching every tiny detail of the food preparation and serving.

It was late when I decided I still needed a photo and so, once again, I was scratching around for an interesting shot that could be done in low light and with minimal equipment. This is today’s such shot.

I do quite like its composition – there is something very comforting about the sexual imagery of the lemon don’t you think? It comes back to the ‘everybody needs a bosom for a pillow’ as our friends in Cornershop once so eloquently commented.

Credit to Maurice - DMs Dad, for allowing me to load my photo from his laptop!

Last year, I was terrified by an NYC taxi driver.....who should have messed with someone else because he ended up throwing away his job because he tried to frighten/cheat me...and the year before my life was much more happy and benign I was pub quizzing and playing bingo with DM, Mike and West.

Yes, what Beth said. It is almost impossible not to get cheered up by this photo. The sunny yellows and the subliminal perky shape (!?) promise good things ahead!

I don't think you're mad for moving. I think you're fabulous!

I remember that on TV. A lot of letters were written to The Telegraph and monocles popped out all over the country.

I first looked at the thumbnail soon after I woke up this morning, and my then bleery eyes told me "sunflower!". I like it.

Cracking image: and one where the thumbnail actually helps draw you in.... Good luck!
