30th May 2005 - the last post

It’s been a fractious day here in our world – my ‘concentrated burst of pain’ attitude and DM’s ‘manyana’ have been in direct conflict with one another and we’ve spent much of the day yelling at each other. Combine the work with my jetlag and you have a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, late this afternoon, a truce was called and we ‘kissed and made up’ then took R&A out for a long constitutional around Colliford Lake – we knew it existed but neither of us had seen it until today. David stumbled across it earlier in the day when he was trying to avoid holiday traffic and get back from the shops in Bodmin.

There is a path round the lake and in total the walk must be several miles long – we reckon we walked about three miles and probably walked a third of the total route then turned back so we think we did about 2/3 of the total distance if you see what I mean.

It was really beautiful – the lake is high on the moor and the sky’s clearest blue reflecting in the water was utterly stunning. This colour in the pic is exactly how it was.

This post is the last post of a short fenced-in bit with a concrete structure behind it – I’m not sure of its use. I liked the fact that it is the end of a fence that literally ends in the dead calm of the lake. It’s kind of symbolic of our day – us on either side of a fence then ending in calm, cool clarity.

Last year I was on a theme and two years ago, I was celebrating my folks anniversary - and yep, I forgot it this year, despite my sis phoning me to warn me.

That is a gorgeous blue. I love the symbolism. The shore makes me curious to see more of the surroundings; what is the vegetation like around the lake?

I agree with Bill, I think it looks better without the shore... lovely blue.

I like the hint of green on the far shore and your idea to get the work done now and relax and enjoy for the next fifteen years. Oh, or maybe hire a professional, a la Mr. Chappell's advice on painting. :)

Glad you kissed and made up. A long time since I was here (there ?) by the lake. I think I might have cropped out the shoreline at the top of the picture.
