1st May 2005 - glory, glory Tottenham Hotspur....

Today we’ve been to WHL for the first time in 9-10 weeks – I was on a plane back from the USA for the game on 19th March, then I was ill with Salmonella poisoning for the next game, then we played West Brom last week, which was a midweek fixture and we couldn’t get home.

Today was great though. We never looked like losing almost from the first moment – our first goal was after only six minutes and this is the celebration from no 2 of 5….yep, 5. We only conceded a single goal and that was a dubious penalty. Cool – THFC on the rampage. Our team did us proud.

They were on the rampage really – each goal a beauty and we are now in that coveted European slot….for now at least. We have a crucial game next weekend at Middlesborough then home to Blackburn on the last day of the season.

How wonderful it was to see Sarah and all our boys. I have missed each and every one like mad since we last saw them. Sarah will be my friend till the day I die. She is the best friend a person could have.

In the pub later, I had a bizarre experience. I met a young man called George. He is the 16 year old son of a man I loved 25 years ago. He came over to our crowd and his mate said ‘are you Linda Alstead’. I said ‘Yes’ and then he revealed who he was. I was shocked and completely dumbfounded.

It was just about the most surreal thing I’ve ever experienced.

I then spoke on the phone to his dad and my ex. How weird was that?

My world was shaken a bit but I recovered…… tomorrow is another day.

Last year, I was in Trafalgar Square with the May Day protesters and two years ago there were stormclouds over a client!

5 goals! That's why you were so wrong footed :)
Great shot.... What lens snatched this? :)

So so glad you got there this time. And that match with Middlesborough is going to be BIG, isn't it? And that meeting was, well, um, surreal and a half!
And as for the policemen, they must be getting younger, as I cannot even see them lol

Nice capture of the celebration. Spurs were the first team I ever saw at Hillsborough - 1958. Now that dates me doesn't it. I was only very young but old enough to remember!

Spooky!, I didn't know who you would meet in the pub
but I certainly knew what your PAD would be.

I thought you might be pleased when I saw the score!

Glad your boys won today... but like policemen - don't they all look so young!
('cept the Ref of course!)
