Yep – as DM has already reported, we have now won four games on the bounce and as I write, we sit 7th in the table and given that we were only three points from rock bottom only a month ago, we’ve had a remarkable recovery indeed. Today’s game? Well, it was against a struggling Southampton side but given that we don’t have much of a reputation for beating bottom clubs and given that they have a new manager (our Club Captain, Jamie Redknapp’s Dad, Harry), we did wonder if we might get a shock today. But that didn’t prevent our usual ebullient stance with Ladbrokes, three whole pounds were invested between Sarah, David and I on our win and at half-time I looked as though I was ‘sitting pretty’ on a 3-0 win and Defoe to score first. I have very mixed feelings in those circumstances as to whether I want us to push for more goals but as the next goal to get put away after half-time was by the Saints, I could relax and enjoy the spectacle of a 5-1 victory.
The full-time whistle saw us dash back to the B&H for a swiftie before heading to meet Colin at Waterloo and home with him for the rest of the weekend. This is taken in the B&H in case you hadn’t guessed.
I love the Bell and Hare - it is so full of 'friends' - I found myself four new 'friends' in a group of four Dutchmen who had come to the game to see their hero, Martin Jol's new team. I took their photo (on their camera) and they insisted on one with me - a real-live Spurs fan!!!
Sarah was in full-on ‘lovefest’ mode all day and every time I looked at her, she grinned her head off and threw open her arms for a hug. It was hilarious and sweet all at the same time. How brilliant is our story of friendship? She was wearing her Jermain Defoe earrings specially for the occasion.
As for Jermain Defoe? Yep.
