11th August 2004 - little bendy Transvasin men

Those who know me in my professional life won’t be surprised to hear I can be a tad cynical! I find myself getting very frustrated about how confident companies can be in their ideas. You know, it’s a thing that someone has a bright idea and everyone else gets swept along with it because the idea’s originator is a good motivator and is enthusiastic about what they are promoting. I see so many of these ‘ideas’ that I find myself becoming increasingly despondent.

These little bendy men have found their way onto my desk and I see them as a beacon of the good idea that actually works for a change. They are give-aways for pharmacists to symbolise the benefits to people of using Transvasin, which is a painkiller that you rub in to the sore bit rather than take orally. I love the smiley faces and the bright colours as well as the obvious link between the brand and the flexibility of the little men.

Oh how pharmacists love them too so it’s a great piece of marketing in my humble opinion. They were so well loved last night that several of them went home with pharmacists rather than staying with me……now you can’t give a higher accolade than that – pharmacists actually asking for branded promo stuff. Mind you, there was other stuff that also went home with pharmacists too that was less interesting!

Anyway, they’ve been peeking out of my briefcase at me all day and I just decided they’d make a good PotD because they also symbolise my day pretty succinctly. I’ve been to a client meeting today at less than 24 hours notice – so that’s pretty flexible, I’ve spent ages on the phone to the USA ‘dotting Is and crossing Ts’ on a project and this evening I’ve spent talking to pharmacists about their interface with OTC companies again so I’ve been working from 9am until 10.30pm again…..again that seems pretty flexible to me.

Strange behaviour from a pharmacist when we have recently been advised by the government to go to the pharmacy to ask them for advice on ailments and non prescription medicine in order to cut down visits to the doctors. WBR LeoP

They are very cute!!!

I know two little guys who would just LOVE some of these, so can I put in an order for 2 dozen bendy men and a tube/jar/bottle/whatever of Transvasin for my aches and pains?!

What a fun shot! Company logos are finding their way onto all sorts of strange toys... my company has our logo on slinkys, yo-yos, rubber balls that light up, erasers, etc. Maybe I should put in a suggestion to get our logo on these rubber guys. Gotta love the corporate world :)

Once again, Linda, you've hit the jackpot in tieing a picure to an experience. May I say that you have a wonderful ability to allow me (and, I hope, most other readers)to "feel" your feelings. Your diary is my first hit when I get home from the daily grind. Although I'm a little older than you (75 and pushing),I still enjoy those mixed feelings when exposed to success and idiots - Keep on pushing girl!

I had to laugh when I saw this one. Bending over backwards and standing on your head for clients. Very symbolic and I know the feeling well. -Janke

Happy little bendy-chaps, heheh. I'm still on holiday for another week. I feel exhausted even at the thought of working.
