…you held it in your hand
I had flashes
but you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
while you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
you saw the whole of the moon
………………..
you climbed on the ladder
with the wind in your sails
you came like a comet
blazing your trail
too high
too far
too soon
you saw the whole of the moon
Whole of the Moon – the Waterboys
I was out in the garden watering in the newly planted veggies (courgettes, mange touts, sugar snaps and climbing French beans) and I noticed the rainbow in the flow of water from the hose. It reminded me of this song, which I love. It’s one of the most energy filled songs I can think of and its lyrics are (in my view) absolutely wonderful.
The analogy of me ‘capturing the rainbow’ by using the hose and getting it in the late sunlight just right and David ‘holding it in his hand’ makes me smile, even though it reminds me of a posting from earlier this year that’s certainly not bringing me joy at the moment. How many people can say they’ve held a rainbow? I gave him that opportunity and all he did was complain about getting cold hands!!!
Wanting to ‘hold the rainbow’ has been a dream of mine for months now but it’s proving elusive for me. I wonder if it will ever happen? Will I ever get to live my dream? Will this thing that seems to be slipping away from me ever be mine? No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to make it come to me. Will I ever achieve this goal? Will I ever move from the one having ‘flashes’ to the one having ‘plans’? Will I ever wake up on top of the world? Maybe this week the wherewithal to do these things will come to me…..
Hey – it’s just occurred to me, I wonder if there is a crock of gold in David’s hand now? I’m going to have to check that later!
