seagulls

This photo was taken during a celebratory/guilt-ridden walk on the beach after an exciting day.

We spent the entire morning on the beach playing tennis with the dogs and 'kickin up the surf' - they thought it was grand.....we really knew that we were trying to wear them out before committing the sin of sins....leaving them in the cottage while we went to the pub to watch Leicester vs Spurs (bottom of the table 'relegation' battle) on the satellite TV. Very very naughty for two reasons:

1. Not allowed to leave dogs unattended in rented cottages (sorry David and Penny but they are GOOD dogs and don't make mess or destroy stuff).

2. We went out and had fun without them!

David and Colin were embarrassed to see me in my full Spurs regalia (well almost - no lucky pants or mug!!!!). A team shirt was all really. We sat in the Bowgie (where they don't allow dogs 'for hygiene reasons' - er - dogs and people have been living happily alongside one another for thousands of years surely we'd have all died of horrible diseases by now if they were unhygienic) and had a late lunch (very nice), two pints of Betty Stoggs Cornish Ale (also very nice) and watched agog with dismay as Spurs put on a miserable display for the first half and by the half-time whistle we had been punished by a Leicester goal to put them 1-0 up.

Interestingly the whole watching audience seemed to be on the side of Spurs so when we equalised with a cracking goal by new boy Mbulelo Mabizela and then another corker by Freddy Kanoute to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in the last minute of the game. It was so exciting when the whole pub erupted in cheers at both Spurs goals - I'm so used to being ridiculed for my love of the Spurs that I thought I must be cheering the wrong team!!!

Anyway, I was so full of excitement, energy and adrenaline that I insisted on another beach walk with the dogs as the sun set. Archie was stirring up the seagulls and this lovely sight seemed to top off a wonderful day perfectly.

PS - having 'told off' the Bowgie for not letting in dogs, the rest of the experience was fantastic - good, obliging bar staff, well-kept beer, top food, great system for keeping the punters happy, Rugby on elsewhere, music for those not interested in either, excellent (if a little garish) sound and vision on the footie
