The first tomatoes in our new greenhouse are now red - I love the Italian word for tomato - (I think) pomodoro translated to love apple. Who can resist such sweet, succulent, juicy things.

It's taken a long time to get tomatoes here again - three years since the old greenhouse fell down then a late start this year while we assembled the new one before we could sow seed. I can't tell you how much the first ripe fruit is important to me.

Next year? More exotic stuff like aubergines and peppers as well as the tomatoes and chillis.
