Today has been trying in most senses - really tough day at work, two disasters at David's house, burst watermain and gas leak, I nearly got run over by a mad woman in a 4x4 who mounted the pavement to avoid having to wait for an oncoming car, drove along it and missed me by max 6 inches. I have reported her to the police - I hope she gets done for dangerous driving.

Amidst all this 'ugly chaos' I was experiencing strange emotions. I took a train to Ascot station to meet David for the first time in about eighteen months and the power of the memories of the tremendous excitement I used to feel when we were first seeing each other came rushing over me again. We were sitting in the house waiting for the gas man and, even though the 'ugly chaos' was different - cold, no TV etc rather than no plaster on the walls, the same waves of nostalgia were there too. I went to Hyns to get us a take away - still one of the best Chinese restaurants I know and sat on the same sofa I sat on with David on our second 'date' when he treated me to a take away. While I was choosing the food, I was remembering how much his hands were shaking when he gave me the menu on that night. How times change.

It was good to go down memory lane, it was also good to come back to OUR home....
