I am on such an adrenaline rush. I took my phonics plan in, showed the class teacher and she said “ooohhhh this looks really good, can you do it to all 60 children" (two classes of 30 each). I thought “in for a penny, in for a pound” and agreed. It was baptism of fire stuff again but you learn from these things.
I did it. I did it good and on two of the eight teaching standards I was awarded “outstanding” on two elements. I’m not expected to get anywhere near that on this placement, in fact, I am only expected to get level 5, so I’ve surpassed expectations massively. I didn’t get less than 5 on anything and I only got as low as 5 on two. Whooppeee.
These flags, made my sister for our wedding and used on another occasion for my lovely friend Janet since, were used by the children to wave when they heard words with the “y” sound . I can’t tell you how thrilling it was to be sat in front of 60 little rapt faces while they furiously waved their flags as I recited my made up story about yetis, yellow buses and yoga. I keep saying it but the rush when you know you’ve got them and they’re learning is simply amazing. I was so excited that I decided to treat myself to concentrating for half an hour on my PaD today.
