The dandelion clock is ticking…tick, tock, tick, tock.
I’m still frantically cramming my “plants: from ethnobotany to biotechnology” – learning about such amazing subjects as:
• How fuels – as in petrol and diesel are made from algae – now that’s pretty extraordinary science,
• how millions of people the world over have had their lives transformed by the bark of the cinchona tree – quinine to you and me,
• how conservationists are trying to save rainforests by replanting them rather than letting the land get used for palm oil
• how yew has been used to transform cancer treatment
…and a whole range of other things that, if I didn’t already, would make me think that plants are simply bloody amazing.
Soon I will sit at a desk and spew out my knowledge (or lack of it) on the subject and then will only have one more exam and one other Uni commitment before THE END.
DM said to me “Where did you get that? It’s too early for those!” Hmmm – it’s not you know! The dandelion clock also ticks on the spring – soon that too will be over and it’ll officially be summer. I wonder if we’ll get one this year?
