25th May 2009 - dandelion half moon

In my ignorance I’m not sure what a dandelion moon is except that it has some meaning rather than just two words randomly stuck together. I know that because google is full of references to dandelion moon.

Maybe something from a long time ago has stuck itself in a box at the back of my mind with a reference to dandelion moon and somehow I’ve managed to fall over the box and stub my toe on it.

So – what’s all this got to do with anything?

Not a lot.

I’ve been at work all day today again, while everyone else I know has been enjoying the long bank holiday weekend. I feel like the ultimate party pooper. I got home, made the leftovers of yesterday’s dinner look like something else, which we ate and then did no more than flump on the sofa.

DM came into the house while I was in the kitchen with this in his hand – a perfect dandelion clock…..er, except I’ve only photographed half of it so you can’t see its perfection. I shot it several times, with different bits in focus and for some reason liked this one with the softness of the close stuff looking like a halo of moonlight, which is how I came to dandelion moon.

Strangely, I’m tired – in fact very tired but I can’t sleep. I’m not sure if this is the result of being drug free for the first time in eighteen months (yep – I finished my weaning off the anti-depressants last week) or if there is some other reason why sleep is evading me at the moment. Whatever the reason, I’ve seen more of the moon in the last few days than I’d have ideally wanted.

And... good that you're free, take it slow, it takes a bit for your body to right it's chemistry. Don't be overly hard on yourself. Stay tuned in to what your body is saying. Don't over do it. Nice and easy, sweetie!
