Such a poignant eye into a life whose harshness we cannot even imagine. From the outside looking in..

A really haunting look. The pose of the hands looks very innocent and childlike, but the eyes have seen terrible things and looks to old for this face.Very sad,but a great shot.V:-)

Again... no end to your talent. This is reminiscent of Steve McCurry. It's all in the eyes.

Two worlds. And the symbol what separates them is thick and very vsisible. The eyes are watching the inside, but with no fear, no envy, no tears, dignity, kindness alsmost. As a kid can give, because before being destitute kids, they are kids. I really like the high contrast processing, that abstracts the background. Very powerful image, even if that sounds easy to say.

Just wonderful! The expression, the mood, the treatment! V

Not just a glance into your vehicle, but a look into your world. There wisdom/experience beyond her years in that stare, but her hands show she's a child. Powerful AiLi

The dissapointment mixed with a resigned farewell. Forced back behind the border and into her own country, but still looking at the world beyond. v

OMG AiLi! This is heartbreaking...
Phil Douglis05-Feb-2007 05:56
This is the most abstract of your window shots, Ai Li, and as such, it leaves the most room for the imagination of the viewer to ponder its meaning. Your background is not cluttered, you remove the mouth (symbolizing hunger?), and the window is a barrier separating her from both the camera and the viewer. It seems as if she is struggling to make contact, and she can't, making it all the more poignant.
