(This is my last post of Taj Mahal, viewed from Agra Fort, with a human chain! :-)
Thanks to all who’ve been following my journey so far. Still struggling with my flu bug

I agree with David. A totally silhouetted chain would lead to a very flat perspective. I like the chaotic dynamic that the extra details provide. Pearls in the same chain, but each one formed from a different grain. Hope you feel better soon dear Ai Li.

I'd like to respond to something in Phil Douglis's earlier comment. Of course I don't know any more of what Ai Li intended with this shot than anyone else does. But to me, the fact that some - but not all - of the people are mere silhouettes is a great strength of this shot. As a marvellous, amazing result of the framing, the Taj Mahal floats, without context, as a great symbol. For me, this provides some sort of context & backdrop for the people. Then I can see some of these people as individuals, with discernible faces and expressions; these are examples of real people for whom a symbol might mean something. I like having these people in the shot, as it provides some sort of bridge for me between an abstract symbol and abstract people; without that bridge, the shot becomes so abstract that I wouldn't connect with it at all. Sure, I'd like it, but it would be a very different effect. I like the way the picture engages me as it stands.

This series is really brilliant, Ai Li. The recurent theme of echoing the architecture and the human body is very original and extremelly successful. I like also here the high contrast, that really gives an idea of purity and eternity to the Taj Mahal. Bravo.

I like the concept of a human chain, Ai Li. I think that it might have been even more effective if you had been able to abstract all of these people as silhouettes. The whole point of using black and white in this image is to make the image more abstract. The handful of people at right who are silhouettes give us an inkling of what this image might have looked like if you had been able to find an entire line of backlighted subjects. The eye now goes to the person in the striped sweater, then to the recognizeable faces. Your use of all that blank sky is important here - normally I would warn against using a featureless sky in an image, but in this case, it creates a soaring overhead context for your idea of unlimited love.
