Old Man of Storr and Loch Fada (Long Lake)

Trotternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland

The Storr is a rocky hill that was created by the Trotternish landslip, a massive ancient landslide.
It is the longest such feature in Great Britain and one of the most photographed landscapes in the world.
The Storr presents a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west.
The area in front of the cliffs of the Storr is known as the Sanctuary.
This has a number of weirdly shaped rock pinnacles, the remnants of ancient landslips.
The ‘Old Man’ is a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around.

I can see why it is so widely photographed although yours is the first I have seen of it. Magnificent all encompassing composition! ~BV~
