Shinto Miko (巫女 Shrine Maidens)

Miko (巫女 lit. "Shrine Maiden") is a Japanese term that in the distant past meant "female shaman, shamaness; medium; prophet, priestess" who conveyed divine oracles, and currently means "shrine maiden; virgin consecrated to a deity" who serves at Shinto shrines.
