New species: the 7-legged spider (just kidding). This is a superb image. Interesting that you have these in Alabama; we have very similar species (genus Nephila, I think) in Australia where they suspend large webs between forest trees.
Don't you just love these spiders, Lewis? The first one I ever saw was on Ocracoke. I was about nine and almost ran head long into one. After I freaked out and calmed down I just watched it, fascinated by its size and beauty. You show her off well! V
