Hammock Trail
Everglades National Park
Florida
*******************************
Originally from Cuba, these snails arrived in south Florida hundreds if not thousands of years ago
on floating logs.
Florida once had a flourishing population of tree snails but due to development and insect spraying, the population has greatly declined.
The Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission named the Florida Tree Snail a Species of Special
Concern.
