Giant Leaf-tailed Gecko Eye

Copyright © Lewis Scharpf

Uroplatus fimbriatus
The tiny pinholes in this lizard's pupils widen at night
when the lizard becomes active, to pick up as much of the
available light as possible. A gecko's eye has many more
light-sensitive cells than human eyes. This lizard Has no
eyelids. The gecko lickss its eye to clean it from dust
and other particles.
