Eagles love fish. One day a few Februarys ago, Sharon and I went with a group of friends down to Lake Clear beach to watch the sunset and see what the ice fishermen were pulling from the depths. Someone had left a big fish on the ice by the hole through which it had been caught. Frozen fish -- musta seemed like a good idea at the time. So we’re sitting on our lawn chairs under the pines at the edge of the lake when this eagle shows up, circles three times, passing directly over our heads, then drops down, grabs the big fish that had been left on the ice, and flies away across the lake. One predator stealing from another. We all applauded.
