TOCO TOUCAN (Rhamphastos toco)

LPZ

The toco is the largest species in the toucan family. While the large bill appears quite heavy, it is actually very light due to its many air pockets. The bill is hollow, and made of protein keratin with thin rods of bone to support it. When toucans sleep, they turn their head so that their long bill rests on their back.
