There are few Art Noveau buildings in Mexico. The majority are in Mexico City. In the historic center, south and west of the Zócalo (the city’s huge main square) three department stores and a large clothing store were built in the style. | One of the buildings is still occupied by the original occupants. Two others are still used as retail establishment. The fourth was converted to a quality hotel. Two of the buildings have outstanding stained-glass ceilings by Jacques Gruber (1870-1936) of Nancy, France. |
