There were numerous Painted Lady butterflies yesterday, not only in the conservation area, but flying across all the roads and over fields. They were mostly very fresh individuals meaning they have recently hatched. These ones will likely be heading south as they move toward warmer weather. Some years we see many of these butterflies, other years, almost none.
