Giant water bug (Lethocerus americanus)

At home

I was sitting on the back steps tonight, looking at the moths and other insects attracted by the black light in my garden, when I looked over at a water bowl and there was this amazing insect. It is about 60mm in size. They do come to lights, and I always hoped I might see one close enough to photograph.... now I have.
